ROUTESCourses are well marked and maps will be provided at the start line.ROUTES ARE SUBJECT TO MINOR MODIFICATIONS URBAN 18-MILE ROUTE This relatively flat course takes you past four yummy rest stops - each one featuring a hot beverage and treats (doughnuts, cookies, fruit). The course travels almost exclusively along low-traffic streets and streets with bike lanes. You'll cross the Willamette River, sneak into NW Portland, head over the Broadway Bridge to exit the city and pedal north into NE Portland. From there you'll snake long the gorgeous Alameda Ridge, decend down across Sandy Blvd, journey alone tree-lined SE streets and land back at the Lucky Lab. FIND YOUR WAY: Bright yellow laminated arrows at eye-level at every turn along the way, course marshals at busy intersection, an oversized route map and staff to answer questions at the start line, a route map is provided at the start line. CHALLENGE LOOP: 45 miles Looking for more of a challenge? This great course starts at Lucky Lab along the 18-mile route but at the downtown REI rest stop it takes off for the hills. It's a gorgeous route on mostly low-traffic roads taking you to the Hillsboro REI where a substantial rest stop is ready to reawrd challenge riders. The course cruises back to Portland and joins up with the Urban route again at REI downtown to finish off the route. Follow the rest of the urban route for two more yummy rest stops and a full 40 miles, or if you can't wait for soup you can head back to the finish line on your own (non-route return directions are not provided and you are not on course or supported if you choose that option). FIND YOUR WAY: Course markings along the way, an oversized route map and staff to answer questions at the start line, a full-page map for the challenge loop portion, turn-by-turn directions for the challenge loop portion and a support hotline you can call for more info. Please note: The couse closes exaclty at 3:00. Only choose the 40-mile route if you know for sure you can complete the route easily well before 3:00.
