OFFICIAL WDYR VIDEO!

Our video crew is working hard to bring you the official WDYR video - with footage of you on course from yesterday's ride.

Check back on our website in a couple weeks to see the final video.

1. THANKS FOR RIDING!

Thank you for joining us on the seventh annual Worst Day of the Year Ride! Wasn't that great? Over 2,000 of you showed up to ride - even knowing it might be raining buckets.  We'd like to also thank the 150 volunteers who helped make the ride happen, especially Course Marshal Miss Worst Day of the Year Ride (self-awarded) at NE 52nd and Sandy.

By having fun - by riding your bike, drinking hot chai, eating doughnuts (don't pretend you didn't) and enjoying hot soup at the finish line - you helped raise funds to support the Community Cycling Center's bicycle programs for low income youth.

IN THIS ISSUE:

1. Thanks for riding!

2. How bad was it

3. Ride photos and fun facts

4. Share the bike love

5. Our partners are the best!

6. A note from the monkey

2. HOW BAD WAS IT?

Okay, time to dish it out - how bad was it?  You were prepared for a downpour, so how did the day pan out for you?

How did the WDYR get to be so great? It is because of feedback from riders like you.  Every year we ask riders for feedback - then we really listen.  Please take a minute to give us your feedback with this short survey. Your feedback will help us continue to make this the best winter ride in Portland.

4. SHARE THE BIKE LOVE

The Community Cycling Center is thankful for your support. Here's a message from the hardworking staff of the CCCC:

You did it! You kicked the year off right, braving a *few* raindrops to tour our lovely city on a not-so-sunny Sunday.   We appreciate your hardiness and sense of adventure. You helped us raise more than $10,000 for our programs for low-income youth and adults! Thank you!

In addition to our bike shop and volunteer projects, we also offer programs to help children, families, and women to learn how to be safe and confident bicyclists .

We are committed to making our programs accessible regardless of family income.   Thanks to everyone for riding and making donations. You help us achieve our mission of broadening access to bicycling and its benefits.

6. THE WEATHER REPORT

Our resident meteorologist, the Icy Monkey, predicted mild weather, a high of 56 degrees, and a 60% change of precipitation, but mostly in the early morning. He would like to convey to everyone how proud he is of his accurate prediction. He says that all along he knew it would rain just a little bit, but he didn't want to let on for fear that you'd be scared away.  Oh, and he wants us to also let you know this is the second year in a row he had such an accurate prediction and he thinks he should take over for Matt Zaffino.  Too bad they don't let monkeys on the nightly news.

The Icy Monkey would also like to thank all of you for coming out for the ride. If you took pictures of him, please send them in. The Icy Monkey is making a scrap book. Crazy monkey.
