2. NEW FOR THIS YEAR
Every year, the Worst Day of the Year Ride grows and gets better. This year is no exception. We're capping the ride at 1,500 riders to ensure you can continue to have that great ride experience you've had in the past - with full support, tons of yummy food and wide open streets to ride.
The 40-Mile Loop Challenge has certainly gotten more popular over the years and this year we'll be offering full markings on that course, including Dan Henry's and sign post arrows. The Urban Course will have a slight change at the beginning to send you on a nice route to River City Bicycles, the first rest stop. We've also added in fruit and extra treats along the course. YUM!
Also new this year we'll have packet pickup the night before at Lucky Lab. Swing by, grab a beer and pick up your rider number so that on the day of the ride you don't have to check in, you don't have to wait in line.
3. CONTESTS
Come dressed in your costumed craziest outfit for our costume contest! Decorate your bike, decorate yourself. Prizes include great rain gear from Showers Pass, Tireflys spoke lights and more. Be prepared to show off, even if that means putting a tutu over your rain pants or a pink wig over your helmet.
Once again we'll also be asking you to vote on your favorite rest stop. As you visit each of them along the way, take special note of the temperature of the hot chocolate, the decorations, the antics of the staff, the quality of the bananas, the selection of doughnuts and any other criteria on which you'd like to judge them. You can cast your vote at the finish line. The rest stop with the most votes wins the highly prized Icy Monkey Award.
4. THE WEATHER REPORT
So far, the skies are looking nice and clear for the February 11th. Our resident meteorologist,. the Icy Monkey, is predicting mild weather, no rain and sunny skies. Hmmm, that sounds a lot like the weather report for the last five years.
