A YUMMY TOUR OF PORTLAND

Bundle up, it's going to be cold.  But don't worry, we'll keep you warm along the way with plenty of hot drinks and belly-nourishing treats.  Here's the menu, in order of stop location:       

Start - Nossa Familia coffee and doughnuts
REI - Fresh fruit and spicy Dragonfly chai.
REI Hillsboro (challenge riders only) - hot chocolate, oatmeal, hot tea and more.
Community Cycling Center - Hot chocolate and yummy cookies.
Bike Gallery East - Warm cider and bagels.
Lucky Lab finish line - Laughing Planet Cafe is bring a feast of local, sustainable and organic soups.  Choose from veggie chili or potato corn chowder and add a thick slice of fresh focaccia on the side.

 

With about 3-4 miles between locations, there's no doubt you'll be kept well nourished every step of the way.

 

ROUTES

Join us on a quiet 18-mile urban tour or tack on a hilly Challenge Loop to Hillsboro for a total of 40 miles.   Both routes start at Lucky Lab.

PACKET PICKUP

Saturday, Feb 9th, Lucky Lab 4-7p
Optional - you may also get your rider number at the start line.
Pick up your rider number in advance, optional. Riders may also register at Packet Pickup for $40, space allowing.  Plus, free goodie bags to all riders only at Packet Pickup. Relax, enjoy a beer and meet other riders.  

SCHEDULE

We release riders in waves, meaning a few riders at a time.  You like sleeping in?  No problem. You can show up late and you'll get out on course smoothly without much waiting.

Registration opens: 8:00am
Challenge Loop Course rider are released: 9-10am
Urban Course riders are released: 10-11am
Course Closes: 3pm
Finish Line Closes: 4pm

 


COURSE HOURS

Challenge Loop: 9-3pm
Urban: 10-3pm
Urban riders will not be allowed on course before 10am.
Please choose a course that fits your riding ability and allows you to finish in time for the course closure. If you are still on course after 3:00, you will miss lunch and you forfeit all course support.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
If you're riding the Challenge Loop, it will take 3-5 hours, on average.
If you're riding the 18-mile, it will take 2-4 hours on average.

 

 

WHAT TO BRING

  • A costume!
  • A decorated bike!
  • A bike lock for securing your bike at the finish line
  • Clothes appropriate for the weather
  • Money for beer + wine at the finish line party (optional, of course)
  • A water bottle or two
  • Personal snacks if you have specific dietary needs. Some rest stops will have fruit. Others will have cookies and doughnuts. The finish line has chicken noodle soup and vegetarian chili.

 

GETTING THERE + PARKING

All routes start at the Lucky Lab, 915 SE Hawthorne.  The entrance is on the corner of SE Madison and SE 9th Avenue in Portland, just one block off Hawthorne. Parking is limited to the side streets. Bike parking is provided.

The Lucky Lab is served by the #4 and #14 busses.
